Digital music contracts — sign, verify, and store without the PDF email chain
How digital signatures work for music contracts — what makes them legally binding, what TYFRA Contracts captures with each signature, and why a signed PDF beats an email chain every time.
The usual workflow — Word to PDF, email, print, sign, scan, email back — is slow, error-prone, and weak on proof. Digital contracts built for music replace that with minutes, one current version, and a verification record.
Are digital signatures on music contracts legally valid?
In the UK, electronic signatures are legally binding under the Electronic Communications Act 2000 and eIDAS. The signer must intend to sign, and the signature must be attributable. A drawn signature with IP, timestamp, and device information meets those tests more robustly than a typed name. Standard music agreements do not require wet ink.
What a proper digital signature captures
TYFRA Contracts uses SignaturePad on a canvas. Each signature stores the image, exact timestamp, IP address, user agent, and coordinates on the page — stronger evidence than a scanned PDF in an inbox.
Multi-party sequential signing
Define roles and order so party B is only invited after party A signs when sequence matters — for example label, artist, and publisher workflows. Any-order signing is available when it does not.
The problems this replaces
Version confusion. One authoritative document with change history instead of diverging PDFs.
Missing signatures. Status stays Pending until every required party has signed.
Lost documents and weak audit trails. Searchable storage with a permanent log of create, send, view, sign, and download events.
How to set up a digital contract in TYFRA
Build a template in the rich text editor, define variables, link the track or event for auto-population, add signers and signing order, preview, send, and collect canvas signatures. When complete, status becomes Signed and the PDF is available.
